About the Qualification – MSM31022

This qualification reflects the role of a person working at the trade level in a facility that services and repairs recreational vehicles, including motorhomes, campervans, caravans, fifth wheelers and slide-on campers. The person undertakes routine tasks according to job instructions, plans/specifications, and procedures and with discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services and contingency measures. They work with a high degree of self-direction and limited supervision. They apply known solutions to routine problems and report non-routine problems according to procedures. They are responsible for their output and have limited responsibility for the output of others.

Packaging Rules – 25 Units consisting of 5 Core and 20 Electives 

Core Units – All Core units must be completed and cannot be changed.

  • Prepare and operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Monitor and maintain automotive equipment.
  • Source and use recreational vehicle industry information.
  • Communicate in the workplace.
  • Work safely

Elective Units on offer

  • Read and interpret work orders and working drawings.
  • Assemble vehicle components.
  • Bond and repair fibreglass components
  • Install or replace mechanical units and assemblies.
  • Prepare materials for fabrication using manual processes.
  • Fabricate parts for vehicle sub-assemblies.
  • Perform mechanical cutting.
  • Perform manual metal arc welding.
  • Diagnose and repair electric braking systems.
  • Test and repair basic electrical circuits
  • Carry out vehicle safety inspections.
  • Inspect and service braking systems.
  • Inspect and service suspension systems.
  • Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices.
  • Diagnose recreational vehicle electrical faults.
  • Repair recreational vehicle internal items
  • Conduct routine, non-mechanical services of recreational vehicles
  • Plus 2 others
