Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis

About the Qualification – AUR40216

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply perform diagnostic tasks in the automotive service and repair industry; servicing, diagnosing, and repairing vehicle systems and components.

Individuals completing this will be qualified for employment as a diagnostic’s master technician / senior technician.

NB : To undertake the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

Packaging Rules –  10 Units consisting of 1 Core and 9 Elective Units 

Core Units – All Core units must be completed and cannot be changed.

• Diagnose complex system faults.

Elective Units (Choose 9 units)

• Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle safety systems.
• Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle petrol engines.
• Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle diesel engines.
• Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle automatic transmission and driveline systems.
• Diagnose complex faults in engine management systems.
• Diagnose complex faults in air conditioning and HVAC systems (AAOC002)
• Service air conditioning and HVAC systems (AAC002)
• Diagnose and repair light vehicle emission control systems.
• Diagnose and repair light vehicle braking systems.
• Diagnose complex faults in heavy vehicle diesel engines.
• Diagnose complex faults in heavy commercial vehicle braking systems.
• Depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles (AURETH101) Pre- Req. for below.
• Inspect and maintain battery electric vehicles (AURETH102)
